North Cascade and Sahale Arm

7/16/2006
Z-Hikers: Henry, Scott, Li Fan, Li Min, Daniel, Jeffery, Cathy, Helen, Aida
Wang Zheng and I
3900ft gain and 11.4 miles rt

I arrived at the Wal-Mart Parking lot at 7:00am. Met Wang Zheng and Z-Hikers. Left parking lot at 7:30. It took us 3 hours to reach the trail head.

The first part was brisk. Starting at 10:30, we were at the Cascade pass at 12:00. Covered 3.7 miles in 1.5 hours. Had first lunch and continued at 12:15. The last two miles was significantly harder. I dragged myself step by step upwards and managed to reach the Sahale Peak campground at 2:15. Time on the mountain top is sadly always the fastest. 45 minutes flied by so quickly. We begin to descend at 3:00 and came back to trail head at 6:00.

It's a tiresome hike. But, with regular exercise during last year. I felt much better than the last two times I was on the same trail.

The landscape are different in July than in Sep. More white snow colors along the mountains. Grass are green. Wild flowers are blossoming. Views are equally incredible.
