Mail Box Peak

It took me about 2 hours and 45 minutes to go up. Slow comparing to those who are conditioning for climbing Mt. Rainier. However, it's my best.

The first time I hiked Tiger Mtn. via cable line. It's quite tough. It took me about 1 hour and 30 minutes to reach summit.

Tenerife

It might be the first nice day for 2011. All hikers are out. I could not find a parking spot in the Mt. Si trail head so I tried Tenerife. Hiked up about 2 hours. I turned back when the trial began to be covered by snow. This is the second failed attempt for me to reach the summit of Tenerife.

Poo Poo Point

May 24, 2009
4 mile rt and 2000 ft gain
10:00-11:05--11:30-12:10

It was sure tiring. On the road up, I felt that I made the right decision to choose Poo Poo point for my first hike in 2009 rather than Mt. Si.

Nice day. A lot of people.

Teneriff

Oct. 19, 2008
RT: 14 miles
Altitude gain: 4000 ft

It's perfect day to have a challenging hiking. I chose Teneriff rather than the nearby but crowded Mt. Si.

The whole trail is along a old logging road. Sounds easy. However, it is actually quite steep. On the trail, I can see the many hikers far away on top of the tip of Mt. Si.

At the end of loggin road, it is a mountain pass. I can see a small lake on the other side of the mountain. I cannot find the trail anymore. I just continued on a newly created logging road for a while. However, at the end, fallen logs blocking the road and I decided to turn back.

It's absolutely quiet. A good place to clear my mind.

Pratt Lake

8/23/2008
11:00-2:10--2:30-5:10
11.4m rt, 3400ft + lower Tuscohatchie Lake

It's a clear day and I cannot waste so I went to Pratt Lake trail alone. The trail is well maintained and relatively easy.

The view of Olallie lake with Mt. Rainier in the background is really beautiful. Pratt lake is quite large. Its water likes that of Mason lake. At the trail end, some backpacker told me that there is a nice lake half a mile away althoug the road is a bit rough. I decide to go to have a look. Lake Tuscohatchie definitely worth the extra effort. I had lunch on the fallen trips in the lake and watched two people swimming around the lake.

Three lakes in a trail. Not bad.

Kendall Catwalk

8/2/2008

Distance: 10.5 mi r/t

Elevation Gain in: 2700 ft
Elevation Gain out: 300 ft
Trailhead Elevation: 3000 ft
Maximum Elevation: 5400 ft

10:15-1:00--1:10-3:10

July was an important month. It passed without logging any hiking activity. I need to make up in August.

Heard Kendall Catwalk before and decide to go there. Weather is not coorporating. It's foggy and even drizzling. However, walking alone in the quite trails in the forest or along mountain side were still a very enjoyable experiecne.

This trail is maintained very well. Wasn't hard at all to reach the Catwalk area. It certainly has very nice views if it was not foggy. Some people were continuing towards the Graval lake. Since there isn't much view, I stopped there.

While having some snacks there I felt really cold. My hands was freezing. One guy told me "keep moving" so I walked downhill really fast.

I think I will be back to this trail again someday.
