North Cascade Pass Sahale Arm

Sep. 24, 2005
11.6 miles round trip and 3900ft gain
9:00-12:00-4:20---4:50-7:45-11:00
Istvan, Yanda

This trail is absolutely great. Good views of mountian and glacier start at the trailhead. Every step higher, one gets more excited by better views. Almost at every turn, one feels the urge to take some pictures.

The trail has all. Forest, lake, water falls, grand valley, glaciers, mountains and more mountains. You name it. On the way towards the glacier, one can see a snow capped mountain on the west. It might be Eldorado. Views reach their best after the final strenous climb towards the Sahale glacier. There is also a snow capped moutain in the south direction. Possibly glacier peak.

Leaves are turning red. Maybe they would be more colorful next weekend. But today the whether is great. Who knows what would be next weekend. There are still a lot of blue berries. But most of them are already too ripe.

Last year, I hiked this trail on Sep. 26. I will go this trail next year about the same time.
